Matinee of Nightmares

Phantoms Haunted House is a volunteer-run haunted house dedicated to raising funds for non-profit organizations. In 2017, we have decided to raise funds for the Historic West Bend Theatre. Like many people from the area, we have very fond memories of the theatre and would love to see it reopen in Downtown West Bend! To learn more about their efforts, please check them out at: www.historicwestbendtheatre.org.

Phantoms Haunted House

Phantoms is a husband and wife team that love to give back to the community through a haunted house. Michael Otten builds the haunted house, supervises volunteers and runs the event, and is the "face" of Phantoms. His wife, Sarah Braun Otten, works more behind the scenes. She does all the graphic and website design and maintains the social media.

Through the wonderful help of sponsors and volunteers, they are able to work with non-profit organizations to raise much-needed funds through a haunted house.

Our History

Phantoms really began back in 2005 at a campground. During a yearly family camping trip for a "Halloween Weekend," we put on a large "haunted trail" with our family.

From there, we put on our first actual "haunted house" in 2008 at the Old Jailhouse in West Bend. We helped the Washington County Historical Society raise funds in 2008, 2009, and 2010 with their Ghosts of Washington County event.

In 2011, we moved to Fond du Lac and put on Phantoms of Fond du Lac at the Galloway Village. This benefited the Fond du Lac Historical Society and the Solutions Center in 2011 and 2012. This is when we started the Phantoms name.

A smaller haunt was put on at a college in Appleton in 2013.

In 2014, we partnered with the Dundee Mill and had Phantoms: Resurrection.

Phantoms: Retribution was in 2015 and was a benefit for the Fond du Lac Humane Society.

We are very excited to be back in West Bend in 2017 and honored to help the Historic West Bend Theatre.
